Originally from Victoria, BC, Elsbeth Heaman holds degrees in history from McGill University and the University of Toronto. She is an associate professor in the Department of History and Classical Studies at McGill University and is currently serving as Interim Director of the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada. Her interests range widely across the history of politics, economics, medicine, and culture. Her most recent book is Tax, Order, and Good Government: A New Political History of Canada 1867-1917 (MQUP 2017).
