David Webster

David Webster is History professor at Bishop’s University. His book Fire and the Full Moon: Canada and Indonesia in a Decolonizing World (UBC Press, 2009) examines Canada-Indonesia relations at both government and civil society levels, as does his newest book Challenge the Strong Wind: Canada and East Timor 1975-99 (UBC Press 2020). He has published widely on Canadian foreign relations and Asian history topics. Most recently, he edited Flowers in the Wall: Truth and Reconciliation in Timor-Leste, Indonesia and Melanesia (University of Calgary Press, 2017) and co-edited A Samaritan State Revisited: Historical Perspectives on Canadian Foreign Aid (University of Calgary Press, 2019).
